Blu-ray Editorial Review

After Midnight [Blu-ray] is an intriguing blend of dark comedy and horror that tells the story of Hank, a bar owner whose life is thrown into disarray when his girlfriend Abby mysteriously vanishes. Set against a rural Georgia backdrop, the film explores themes of regret and loss while incorporating horror elements, such as a nightly monster that wreaks havoc on Hank's home. The movie employs long takes, allowing viewers to feel like they are eavesdropping on genuine conversations, creating an authentic atmosphere. While some found the acting level reminiscent of community theater, many appreciate its creativity and unique storytelling. This film is more drama than horror, but it successfully keeps you engaged with its character-driven narrative and moments of humor interspersed throughout.
