Mathematical Physics Editorial Review
**** "Numerical Methods for Physics" (Revised Edition) has garnered a positive reception among readers, especially those enrolled in physics courses. Many users appreciate the clear and accessible explanations provided throughout the text, allowing students to grasp complex concepts in numerical methods without feeling overwhelmed. The book’s focus on practical applications, particularly in solving partial differential equations (PDEs), is highlighted as a significant strength, as these methods are essential tools in various fields of physics. Furthermore, readers commend the well-documented and organized downloadable code that accompanies the book, reinforcing the learning experience by allowing students to implement the methods discussed. This resource, although not noted in the preface, has been praised for its clarity and efficiency, enabling learners to solve numerous undergraduate physics problems with minimal coding. While many found the content and layout of the book satisfactory, there were suggestions for improvement. Some readers expressed a desire for the inclusion of modern Fortran programming examples, which they feel would enhance the book’s utility for advanced studies. Additionally, a few instances of errors were noted, though the existence of an erratum online allows readers to address these issues effectively. Overall, readers find this revised edition to be a valuable, cost-effective alternative to older, more expensive texts, and strongly recommend it to those looking to deepen their understanding of numerical methods rather than rely solely on pre-existing software solutions. **
