It comes with 3 or 4 conditioning pads that are extremely fine sandpapers to keep the metal from tarnishing. The unit is well-made and cleverly designed. It is useful for controlling soil acidity in blueberry patches or lawn. It can also be used to test potted plants. However, it may not work as accurately as a leachate test. It measures the pH of the top 2" of soil and should be pushed into the soil until the metal rings are both covered.
