The LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Programmer app is highly recommended for programming, but there are also limited programming options available on some phone/tablet apps. This EV3 programmable brick can be connected via a USB cable with up to four LEGO Intelligent Bricks. The bricks in the home and education editions are identical with main differences being the parts and sensors. The EV3 system is highly addictive and can be used both by adults and kids to learn about mechanical design, programming, planning, collaboration, and robotics. However, a downside of the system is that it is quite expensive.
