West Bend Popcorn Machine, Stir Crazy Black
The West Bend Popcorn Machine, Stir Crazy Black is a reliable and efficient popcorn maker that produces great tasting popcorn. It is not a hot air popper, thus requires the use of cooking oil. The butter melting feature is not so impressive and can make cleaning messier. It is generally easy to clean even though there are a few complaints about popcorn getting stuck underneath the stir arm and burning. The machine is dishwasher safe but it is recommended to only wash the top and to hand wash the bottom as it is not dishwasher safe. Some customers have used the machine to roast coffee by putting a piece of thin fiberglass cloth between the thermal cutoff switch and the bottom of the pan, while others have used it to pop corn in bacon grease. It is also worth noting that the motor may stop working after a few months of use and the internal design allows oil and water to run down into the components. On the flip side, some customers have used the machine for over three years and it is still working perfectly. The previous design was better than the current one as it did not have certain flaws such as the problem with the stirrer.
