The shoes come in separate pieces that require assembly but are easy to put together and come with enough extra bands to use as backup. However, one customer noted that the rubber bands were slimy and felt gross. While the toy is advertised for children age 7 and up, another customer recommended starting from age 10 or even the teenage years since it requires great balance and awareness of how to place one's feet.
