The Anderson Council (Artist) Format: Audio CD Rock Editorial Review
In an impressive return to form, the New Jersey-based rock band, The Anderson Council, has garnered a mixed yet largely favorable reception with their latest release, a compilation featuring classic tracks alongside four new songs. Fans of the 60s mod rock and power-pop genre have found much to enjoy in this album, highlighting its ability to captivate both seasoned listeners and newcomers alike. Listeners appreciate the bright and clever songwriting reminiscent of classic producers like Shel Talmy, lending a nostalgic yet refreshing vibe to the band's work. Standout tracks such as “Setting On A Cloud,” “We’re Like The Sun,” and “Gardening Man” have been mentioned as particularly captivating, showcasing the band's skill in blending moody melodies with psychedelic undertones. Many reviewers emphasize that this album is a rewarding experience from start to finish, devoid of any filler tracks—a rarity in today's music landscape. Though some voices in the mix express disappointment with the selection of songs or their familiarity, the Consensus leans towards this album being an excellent introduction to The Anderson Council’s sound. The production quality has also received accolades for its clarity and crispness, making it an enjoyable listen across various playback choices, even if the coveted vinyl version is currently unavailable. Overall, The Anderson Council's new album is perceived as a notable contribution to the genre, giving listeners a rich, cohesive set of tracks that evoke both nostalgia and appreciation for the band’s evolving artistry. **
