**** The "After You" Tankobon Hardcover offers readers an intriguing blend of mystery and romance, capturing the emotional process of overcoming loss through powerful storytelling. The narrative begins with the sudden disappearance of a beloved character after a decade of intimacy, compelling the protagonist to search the Goto Islands for traces of her past. This journey is marked by the protagonist's reflection on their shared history, making it a rich exploration of love and memory. However, while many appreciate the unique angle of intertwining mystery with elements of fantasy and the supernatural, not all readers are equally receptive. Some find the fantastical aspects jarring, questioning the direction of the narrative and its tonal Consistency. The shifts from grounded mystery to whimsical elements have led to mixed feelings, particularly for those who expect a pure mystery or are looking for straightforward storytelling. The author's notable stylistic shift in this work has garnered attention, showing a more robust narrative voice. Still, the experimental nature may not resonate with all readers, causing some to feel that the ambition of the plot outstrips the execution. Overall, while "After You" appeals to those who appreciate a blend of genres and emotional depth, it may leave some fans of traditional mystery narratives ultimately unsatisfied. **
